My Beginning

My whole life I was never really sure of what I wanted to do. I’d hop from idea to idea. At one point I wasn’t even sure I wanted to even go to school. I’d always look up into the sky waiting for a sign, for something to hit me over the head and be like “Hey! Do this!”; and just like that it did. The moon. The stars. Space. It was all there, it was always there. I grew up thinking the moon was there protecting me and watching out for me. I’d hear my mom gush about John F. Kennedy and his mission to send people to the moon, and it couldn’t be any clearer to me what my destiny was. I went to school for mechanical engineering but I still felt like something was missing from my life. I had spent so much time and energy on this major and I wasn’t even sure if that’s what I even wanted anymore. I researched other majors that didn’t require me to completely throw away the years of college I had done, when I came across software engineering.

I thought covid had ruined my motivation and determination to change my major and finish up my undergrad, but in reality it was a blessing in disguise. Since school was still up in the air last spring I decided to enroll myself in an online coding bootcamp for software engineering, Flatiron. As each day went by I became more engulfed and more enamored by this world. Everything seems so easy, and its not that it was easy but it was because I was finally doing something that I loved. Everyday I was ready to learn more and read more about Ruby and Javascript. I graduated from Flatiron in January and I was terrified that my motivation and drive would disappear, but just like that first day of school I was only hungry for more. I started teaching myself Python and the other frameworks of Javascript. I started listening to podcasts and following close to whats new and whats stirring in the tech community as well as the space community.

Today I start this blog to not only help me in making my mark in the tech community, but to help remind me why I love this so much and why each day I strive harder than the last to reach my end goal. The moon. The stars. Space.
